Wingshooting

At the Reserve Ranch, we offer a variety of wing shooting opportunities to consider.
Our Dove hunting takes place at flyways along the Nueces River, alongside of ponds and adjacent to planted fields. We can accommodate groups up to twenty with a typical day starting about an hour before sunrise. The hunters will have a light breakfast then be stationed out at various locations for the morning shoot. After a few hours of shooting the hunters will return to the main lodge for a hearty brunch and some relaxation. In the late afternoon, the program will repeat with the hunters being stationed out at various locations and enjoy shooting until sunset. They will then return to the main lodge for dinner.

South Texas has been known for outstanding Bobwhite Quail hunting, and the Reserve Ranch is no exception. The hunts will take place in various locations across the ranch where the native brush has been sculpted for grasses to flourish. We can accommodate groups up to twelve with a typical day starting at sunrise. The hunters will enjoy breakfast while the dog handlers prepare their hunting rigs for the day. The hunters will be collected by their guide and will be transported to the field for the morning shoot. Each hunting rig will have trained pointers to provide the hunters with a most enjoyable experience shooting for Bobwhite Quail. After a few hours afield, the hunters will return to the lodge for lunch. Once again, the hunters will return to the field for the afternoon shoot. When the day afield has completed, the hunters return to the main lodge for the evening meal and fellowship to reminisce about the days hunt.

Upland Game Bird Shooting

Rio Grande Wild Turkey

The turkey hunts take place during the Spring mating season while the gobblers are in search of hens. The Reserve Ranch has over 2.5 miles of Nueces River frontage and this riparian area is ideal habitat for the Wild Turkey. This is an exciting hunt that takes place in a beautiful time of year as the pastures come back to life from Winter. The hunt will begin well before sunrise with the hunters taking a light breakfast then to the field while still dark. The experienced guides will take the hunters close to roosting areas and set up and wait for sunrise. As morning arrives, the turkey will become active and more vocal. The guide will call the birds to within shotgun range for the hunter. This will be repeated through the morning or until successful. After the hunt, you will return to the lodge for lunch and a bit of relaxation. The hunt will be repeated in the late afternoon by scouting and calling to intercept a bird on his way back to the roost.
